ABOUT

Lethal Company is a game all about you and a few friends who is working for a company who wants scrap. You go across various moons in order to go into the place, find scrap, and exit all the while avoiding danger of Monsters and explosives and even sentries. You must meet the Quota every 3 days or else, you will get fired.

STORY

Lethal Company has no direct story, However there are logs you can get from either secret places or from monsters to learn more about the world that adds to the lore. There's really not much I can say as I didn't really get too into the lore, but there are videos that explains it all.

GAMEPLAY

So this is where the bulk majority of the review comes in. As you can tell, there's not much I could talk about the story, But there is a lot of gameplay elements to talk about. You start on a ship with you either alone or with some friends, Typically the first moon is automatically picked but you can go and switch to different moons using the Terminal. The Terminal can only be used by one person at a time and something you will be using the shop for items, Traveling to the moons or the company itself, Look at logs to know more of the creatures or the logs you find, and open doors that you can see on the ship's minimap. What's cool about it is that you have to type everything out which adds to the emersion that your actions matter. Anyways, You then pull the lever to go to the planet, Now the planets can be randomly generated including things on the outside like Pumpkins or Giant rocks that can actually get in the way when you want to go to the front door or emergency exit. Once you get to the front door, this is where the game truly begins as everytime you enter these places, It's all randomly generated, and depending on what planet you might get other kinds of dungeons type where it's a mansion. But for start you go with the basic industrial abandoned place and you go around. You will also notice you have 4 inventory spots so you gotta make sure to pick up what you might need before exploring. Anyways, You travel through and pick up scrap and take them back to the ship. Seems simple, Right? Well... That depends... You see, There's various monsters that will come out and depending on the enemy level and location. You might see some mobs like the Lootbug in which at first is harmless unless you mess with it a lot or the Spore dog in which is actually a lot more harmless if you don't mess with it. But then, you might come across others like the Notorious Bracken who's quite like the enderman and tends to play hide and seek with the user before they snap your neck. There's many other kinds of monsters that all are very unique and quite cool honestly. However you might come across places with Landminds and the dreaded turrets, There have been countless deaths I had dealing with the Turret and sometimes if your very unlucky might actually be at the start of the place! There's also a risk that if you and your friends did not survive and had a bunch of loot on the ship, You will lose everything except for what's in the shelf on the ship. I could go on and on and on about the various gameplay elements as I'm like 8 lines of writing into this review. All I can say, The gameplay is great and that Modding this game will make the experience even better as there's many mods to increase the ship compacity past 4 and even custom maps and everything. It's just so good.

MUSIC

So for music, There's just a few tracks here, You have the ambience which works really well, You have the jingle that plays when you order items, and of course a plethora of tracks that are quite cheesy and goofy for the boombox. The Orders from the shop music also changed for December to play "We wish you a merry christmas" in it's typical fashion, Needless to say the Soundtrack does really well to capture the atmosphere of this game.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Listen, this game is 10$ and if you have a couple of friends, It's definitely worth it. Hell you can play with randos if you wish. I have spent plenty of times playing this game and I don't think I will stop playing it anytime soon. The mods for this game is worth getting into as well, Especially if you like the idea of playing with many more people. Just beware when it comes to the mods, you must have the same mods as others if you want to join modded, but for the most part it's just the mod that allows more people to join in and even joining in mid game.

SCORE 9/10
