Mega Man VI

Platform Played On: NES

ABOUT

Mega Man VI is the sixth and final installment of the Mega Man series on the NES, It's the last game that Nintendo themselves published before the release of Mega Man X. It features new mechanics, levels, robot masters, etc.

STORY

The story for Mega Man VI takes a very interesting start as a Doctor named Dr. X proposes a Robot Master tournament, However, He actually took the Robots and turned them evil and revealed himself to be the mastermind over Dr. Wily. As you get through the game however, Dr. X revealed that he was Dr. Wily all this time (Obama_giving_himself_a_medal.jpg). At the end of the game, Dr. Wily is FINALLY arrested for his crimes as Mega Man finally decides to tie him up and turn him into the police. The story of this game actually HAD potential with a secondary villain character who is over Dr. Wily but really fumbled it sadly. There's also no continuation of Protoman either... (Yeah I really like this character...)

GAMEPLAY

The Gameplay, After all the Mega Man games, This game is actually the most enjoyable game in the NES Mega Man saga. In this game, the new mechanic that you unlock the more you play is that Rush actually combines into Mega Man using a power called "The Rush Adapter" as Megaman can inherit powers from rush, Either turning into a Jet or being more of a close range Melee character with a charge attack that can destroy Enemies thought impossible to kill or to break objects in your path. The Jet Alone made this game so fun and have saved my ass many times. What's awesome is that these abilities you get are easily rechargable. Like with the Jet it quickly goes through the gage but once your on land it charges back up. Or with the Melee, the bar just shows you how charged up the attack is and you can throw a very powerful punch. The Stages are all really good and fun to play and the bosses actually put up quite a fair fight more of the time. Fun Fact is that this was the game that there was a contest for Boss designs and whoever won had their bosses implemented into the game, So we had some neat boss designs... Except one which I really won't comment on but it can be a bit... Problematic. Anyways, Stages, Bosses, the weapons you get from them are all really great and you may even find yourself using the boss moves in a stage quite a bit (It really took me til this game to use something else that wasn't just the buster). There's also a secret item that you can get (or put in a password for) that whenever you collect the energy refills, you don't need to switch to a different weapon as it automatically allocates to the weapons inside your inventory to fill them up, GREAT for the Doctor Wily stages whenever the Master Robot rematch happens. Overall, Best that the NES Mega Man games have to offer.

MUSIC

The music is overall very good, They really wnet all out for the final Mega Man game on the NES, down to just everything. I don't really have much to say but these tracks were jammers.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Mega Man VI is a MUST PLAY from me, This game was actually really good and even fairly challenging, It's not the hardest nor the easiest Mega Man game but it's the most polished one yet in the series, There's really hardly any complaints from me and I'm glad that I've been on this binge of playing every Mega Man game back to back. Best on the NES!
